Flying from Bali to Lombok

If you're looking for the quickest and easiest option, we usually recommend flying.

Why?

• Domestic flights are frequent throughout the day.
• Bali's domestic terminal is located right next to the international terminal.
• Check-in is simple and usually much quicker than international flights. We recommend arriving 1–1.5 hours before departure.
• The flight itself takes only around 30 minutes.

Once you land in Lombok:

• Luggage collection is usually very quick.
• Kuta is around 20 minutes from Lombok Airport.
• Selong Belanak is approximately 45 minutes away.

Overall, flying is often the fastest and least stressful option.

Taking the Fast Boat

If you enjoy travelling by sea or are already staying near one of Bali's harbours, the fast boat can also be a great experience.

Most boats depart from:

• Serangan Harbour
• Padang Bai Harbour

Most routes stop at the Gili Islands first, where passengers disembark before continuing to Lombok.

The boat journey usually takes between 2 and 3.5 hours, depending on:

• departure harbour
• sea conditions
• number of stops

Once you arrive in Lombok Harbour, you'll still need a transfer to South Lombok.

Driving to:

• Kuta takes around 2 hours
• Selong Belanak takes around 2.5 hours

The roads are generally in good condition.

Good to know: During July and August, stronger winds can make the crossing rougher and slightly longer.

What about the cost?

Flight

Return flights between Bali and Lombok often start from around IDR 1.8 million (depending on luggage and travel dates).

Airport transfer:

• Kuta: approximately IDR 150 - 200,000
• Selong Belanak: approximately IDR 250 - 350,000

Fast Boat

Fast boats usually cost around:

• IDR 650,000 one way

Transfer from the harbour:

• approximately IDR 400,000 one way

Some fast boat companies include transport, while others don't, so it's always worth checking before booking.

Our Recommendation

If your priority is:

✅ comfort

✅ speed

✅ easy travel

→ Fly.

If you enjoy being on the water and don't mind travelling a little longer,

→ take the fast boat.

Both options will get you to beautiful South Lombok.

One last important tip 👇

Unlike Bali, South Lombok doesn't have Grab or Gojek available everywhere.

We highly recommend organising your airport or harbour transfer before you arrive.

It saves time, avoids unnecessary stress and means your holiday starts the moment you land.
